Teens Make-up Tips (Natural Beauty)

Makeup Tips

A good tip to keep in mind is to change out your makeup at least every season. That means dumping your mascara, eye liners, lip glosses, etc. and getting fresh new ones.

Bacteria builds up on our cosmetics, brushes, sponges, etc. and that bacteria can cause nasty things like acne or worse. So be sure to change your makeup every time the season changes. Also remember to regularly clean brushes and applicators to keep them fresh and clean.

How to Choose Mascara

When wearing mascara, there are many things that can go wrong, including smudging, caking, and flaking. Fortunately, reading a simple mascara review and applying a couple of tips can make your lashes look more beautiful than ever. Read on to learn how to choose mascara.

Determine your mascara needs. If you have short lashes, choose a formula with lengthening power. If your lashes are naturally long, opt for a thickening formula to provide extra volume. And if you’re attending a special event, like a wedding, choose a formula that is waterproof, as this will provide protection from smudging makeup, even if you think you don’t need it.

Don’t forget a mascara base. Mascara Base can give your lashes extra length, volume, and curl. This is great for evening or anytime you want to add more drama to your look.

Fall Makeup

A lot of people are wondering about what they should do when it comes to their makeup for fall.

This fall season, makeup trends are leaning toward earthy tones. Colors reminiscent of fall leaves and autumn berries are all over the runways for designers collections. Lighter makeup colors reminiscent of spring and summer should be replaced with deeper and richer tones for the fall. Try brown tones for your eyes and berry colors for your cheeks and lips. So to prepare for autumn, exchange your bright, bold summer makeup for richer, earthy tones for fall.

It never fails: the day you have something special planned, a blemish surfaces on your skin. Fortunately, applying the right concealer can hide virtually any problem nature throws at us. Read on to learn concealer tips for disguising problem areas.

The first step in getting rid of imperfections is to use a foundation primer all over the face and around the eye area. This will dramatically improve the texture of your skin and allow for an airbrushed look.

Then, apply concealer to problem areas. For blemishes, choose a product with acne-fighting ingredients such as Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Concealer. For dark circles, check out Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes. This product covers dark circles and protects with SPF 20. Also, both of these products receive high marks in a beauty product review by women.

Finish your look by applying a lightweight foundation with skin-repairing enzymes such as Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup. It has SPF 15, which protects skin from harmful rays.

Make Lipstick Stick

When it comes to applying makeup, lipstick is among the trickiest of the tricky. Whether you end up with a cakey mess or no lipstick at all, it's hard to get the application process down. Here's a great trick to help you get those lips looking irresistible: Before beginning, be sure that your lips are moisturized. If those things are cracked or chapped, your lipstick will flake off or settle unevenly—not pretty. Try using a lip exfoliator if possible. This will help alleviate chapped and cracked lips. Apply a tiny bit of concealer or foundation around the outer edge of the lip line (this will help prevent feathering). Use a lip pencil or liner, and trace the natural line of your lips. Use a sharp lip liner pencil that has a soft tip, this is the best lip liner. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick—this will help to distribute the color evenly as opposed to applying it directly from the tube. A brush will also allow the application to be more precise and blend well with the lipliner. Blot the lips with a Kleenex and apply a light, translucent powder to set the color. Apply a final layer and blott once more. Add gloss if you want that pouty finish!

How to Apply Makeup

There is no set way to apply cosmetics, but there are some tricks you can use to get the best results from your application.

The first step is to have a clean, moisturized face.

Then start with your foundation. If you have discoloration or trouble spots on your face you may want to dab some concealer on the problem areas before you apply the foundation. By using concealer first you can get extra coverage. Foundation should be applied with a clean make up sponge or a foundation brush. Using your hands can spread bacteria or add extra oil.

Once you have your foundation blended evenly then you can finish it off with a loose or pressed powder.

The last step is to put on your mascara. Before the mascara is applied, put on your eyeliner. It is appealing on most individuals to line the top eye with a thin line along the length of the eye/eyelashes and not to line underneath, this can cause eyes to look tired.

When your eyeliner is done then you can apply eye shadow. Light colors for the base look best on most people. You can use a darker color in the outer corners to add depth and highlight your eyes.

After the eye shadow application is complete, carefully brush away any excess make up that may have fallen under your eyes. Lightly brush some powder all over your face one more time to set look.

Next add the blush. You don't want to use too much just enough to put the color back in your cheeks. This should be applied to the upper cheekbones and blended out toward the hairline. A bronzer can be used in place of blush for a more natural look.

The next application should be on your lips. You may want to use a lip base to ensure longer wear. Carefully line your lips along your natural lip line, and then fill them in with the desired color of lipstick. Make sure to use a gloss if your wanting a pouty look.

How to Apply Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup is an alternative option to traditional cosmetics. Pure mineral cosmetics do not contain chemicals, additives, dyes or fragrances. Mineral makeup offers protection from free radicals but still allows your skin to breathe.

With mineral makeup foundation, you can apply the powder dry or add water to create a liquid foundation. To apply dry mineral makeup, tap a little bit of powder into the lid of the container. Swirl your brush into the powder. Tap the brush on the container to get rid of any excess.

An important piece of makeup advice is that when applying mineral makeup, it's important not to use too much. The pigment in mineral makeup is very concentrated therefore a little goes a long way. In a circular motion, swirl the powder onto your skin. Start at your hairline and your jaw line, working your way into the middle of your face, and finish with your nose. If you have any area that needs extra coverage, use a smaller brush to apply a more concentrated amount into the particular spot on your face.

To use the mineral makeup as a liquid, tap a little of the powder into a small container. Add just a bit of water and use a small makeup brush to mix the powder into the right consistency. Use a makeup sponge to apply the product to your face by dabbing it onto your skin.

The key for a flawless finish with mineral makeup is to apply it in light layers. Using too much will make your skin look cakey. After you are satisfied with the coverage on your face, you can begin applying your eye makeup and the rest of your cosmetics. Makeup.com offers mineral makeup from top name brands such as Alison Raffaele, Avanya and many others.

Disguising the shape of your face

If you want to make a round face look longer and thinner it's all about shading. Darker colors make things look smaller. Contouring your cheeks and your jaw with a darker shade will help give the illusion of a thinner, longer face and disguise the round shape.

Using a bronzer or a brown tone on your cheeks and jaw will dramatically change the shape of you face, but you have to be careful you are using color that match your skin tone and look natural; otherwise you will defeat your purpose.

Making Your Makeup Last

Nothing is worse than having your makeup melt or fade throughout the day. Here is some advice to help your makeup last all day.

Apply a primer.
Applying primer before your foundation will help set your makeup. It also creates a barrier between your skin and your cosmetics. Therefore the oils of your skin won't break up the makeup and cause creasing and fading.

Use powder.
Use a powder puff or big brush to add a light dusting of translucent powder to your makeup. The powder will set your makeup and give you a flawless finish.

Set your eye makeup.
Apply eye shadow primer or pressed powder to your eyelid before applying any eye shadow. This base will stop your eye shadow from creasing or melting.

Fill in your lips.
To make your lipstick last much longer, line your lips with a lip pencil and then fill in your entire lips with the liner. Apply a matte lipstick, and then blot your lips with a tissue. Add a second coat of lipstick in a more glossy formula. TotalBeauty.com offers a full list of the best lip liner products, as well as reviews of each one.

Carry blotting papers.
Don't leave home without makeup blotting papers. They remove oil without disturbing your makeup and will leave your skin looking great.

Choosing Makeup

*Mascara- You replace this product every three months, so why shell out for the expensive kind when most of the cheap formulas are the same as the expensive ones?

*Lipgloss- There is not much difference here either, anything clear or sheer is going to be the same as the pricey ones.

*Eyeliner- Just make sure it goes on smoothly and isn’t dry.

*Nail polish- Formulas are the same and unless you use a great topcoat, neither will last more than a few days.

*Trends- Anything trendy that you aren’t sure will become a staple in your makeup wardrobe you should scrimp on. That bright lime shadow that was perfect for summer and now looks a little too much like lizard’s eyelids for example

*Foundation- It’s just too hard to find the right color of foundation because you can’t try it on. There is also a wider variety of colors at the prestige level for almost all skin tones.

*Eyeshadow- The quality and color selection of expensive eyeshadow is vastly superior to what’s at the drugstore. They contain more pigment and will wear longer than the less-finely milled drugstore kind. The color is bold and vibrant and you use less overall so they actually last longer, too.

*Blush- For the same reason as the eye shadows, and drugstore blushes tend to crumble and break apart. If you drop it, it’s a goner. Department store ones will withstand a little rougher treatment in your makeup bag.

*Bronzer- It tends to go on smoother and the color selection is better. Drugstore brands tend to be a little too dark or orange.

*Brushes- Makeup quality brush hair makes application easier and smoother. Plus, if you take good care of them they’ll last forever—it can be a one time only investment.

But pick and choose what works for you, and your budget. A combination of the two can save you money and will definitely round out your makeup collection.

Look your best in photographs

If you want to wear your glass in the photo make sure the photographer angles the lens so you won't get a glare.

The trick to making your nose look smaller is shading. Apply your foundation and your powder as usual. If you are getting your picture taken then you will want to use a "photo friendly" formula of foundation. Try Enlighten or Equalizer by Estee Lauder. These foundations are great for photographs they reflect the light so you won't look "washed out" or pale. Brush a slightly darker shade of powder or use a bronzer over the bridge of your nose. Brush it over the areas that you think are too big. Darker colors make things look smaller. You want to make sure it is not too dark because you still want your make up to look natural.

When straightening your hair you want to condition it well before starting the straightening process. Use a wide bristled brush and put your blow drier on medium and gently brush your hair as you dry it. If you find that you hair is starting to frizz then finish drying it and apply an anti-frizzing agent or hair balm. To make your hair perfectly straight use a flat iron or run a curling iron down your hair and straighten the hair in sections. Use a finishing spray to keep the hair in place and it should be ready for a perfect photo experience.

Make Nose Appear Shorter

There is a makeup trick to make the nose appear shorter. Apply a bronzing powder to the tip of the nose. It will give the illusion of the nose being smaller.

Help For A Large Nose

To minimize a large nose, use shadowing on either side of the nose. This could be a bronzing powder that you use on the cheeks, chin, along the forehead to give you a warm sunkissed look.

Look Like A Model

If you want to look like a model, remember, looks isn’t everything. Self confidence (attitude) is part of the formula as well as having a fresh look. Eat properly, exercise, care for your skin, and wear a minimal amount of makeup. Keep your hair clean and maintained in an easy style. Dress conservatively but wear current fashions if possible. You’ll project the look that models have.

Do Not Share Makeup With your Friends

Teenagers love to experiment with makeup, and sometimes that means sharing makeup. Most of the time, this is not a problem. There are some items that are fine to share, while others can bring up some issues.

The safest cosmetics to share with others are powder eye shadows, blush or bronzer, stick foundation, and face powder. Keep your own stash of mascara, eyeliner, lipstick or gloss - these products tend to transmit more germs because they are liquid-based. Mascara and eyeliner can also pass on eye infections such as conjunctivitis. Sharing lip products can easily transmit cold sores or other germs that cause illnesses like the flu and the common cold.

And what about those testers of makeup at cosmetics counters? Unfortunately, those aren’t germ free, either. Counters take precautions against person-to-person contamination, but it’s not a perfect system. Please do not using lip and eye testers at cosmetic counters while out shopping with friends.

Watch The Eyebrows

Before your teen attempts to tweeze for the first time, make sure she knows the proper plucking methods. You don't want overplucked eyebrows that are too thin or spotty in certain areas. Here is the proper tweezing guidelines:

* Hold an eye liner pencil along the sides of the nose running vertical up and down the face. Use this line as a guideline to show where your eyebrows start and extend outward. Your eyebrows should extend a bit past the inner corners of your eyes.

* It’s best to pluck just underneath the eyebrow (not above it) to maintain its natural shape. Investing in quality tweezers will help grab the brow hair easier. Tweezerman’s Slant Tweezer in assorted colors is the easiest to use and the company offers complimentary sharpening. Pink or purple tweezers will at least brighten up a fairly boring beauty chore like plucking!

What it is about teenagers and black eyeliner? They love it and wear it in amounts that are not necessarily attractive or appropriate for day. If you find that your teen only wears black eyeliner, offer to take her out for a little makeup shopping spree. Tell her she can get two eyeliner colors as long as they aren’t black, charcoal or navy—all of which tend to look too harsh on a young teen’s skin, and are way off the mark for a day at school.

Biginning Make Up

Here are some starter essentials for those just starting out with makeup:

1. Nude eyeshadow - This is flattering and subtle on most everyone. Make sure to get an eyeshadow brush with a handle to teach her how to apply eyeshadow.

2. Blush - Something soft and pink that matches her natural color.

3. Lip gloss - Choose a shade only slightly deeper than her natural lip color. A sheer, rosy gloss will look pretty, but not overdone.

Most kids want to appear older, but that’s not the point of makeup. By avoiding heavier makeup like mascara, liner and foundation, she will still look her age by starting off with the subtle basics. Then, when she gets a little older and starts high school, take her to a professional makeup artist to get a real lesson in applying makeup.

Covering Acne

Acne can take a serious toll on your teen’s self esteem. Going to see a dermatologist is the first step to curing severe acne. But, if your teen just has a few blemishes, or just gets a spot occasionally, then proper makeup application can do the trick.

Find a concealer that is oil-free. There are specific concealers meant to cover acne and that contain an acne fighting ingredient such as salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide. Dab on the concealer gently with a concealer brush, let it set for a minute, and then blend out the edges so you don’t see where the concealer meets the skin. Don’t brush too much directly over the spot - you don't want to brush all the concealer away! After the concealer is blended, set it with some loose powder.

For more apparent blemishes, find an oil-free medium coverage foundation. This will help camouflage large problem areas, and tone down redness caused by the inflammation of the acne. Use a clean foundation brush to apply the foundation every time, and set with oil-free loose powder. Don't use your fingers or sponges to spread foundation as they harbor bacteria and can make acne worse.

Even though mineral makeup may have fewer ingredients than traditional makeup, you still need to wash it off at night. During the day dirt, oil, and bacteria accumulate on the skin and need to be removed before you go to bed. Have a nice day and good luck gurls Specially Methodist Girl's School Klang 2010. GOOD LUCK FOR YOUR FINAL EXAM.
